Our services are adjusted to suit your budget and timeframe, but there are three principal factors that will influence your overall shipping costs to India from the UK. These are load size, transport method and end destination in India.

If you are looking for cheap shipping to India, sea freight is the recommended method as shipping costs from the UK to India are primarily estimated based on the dimensions of your load.

We can help you determine if you require LCL (Less than Container Load) or FCL (Full Container Load) container shipping to India. If you require LCL, your items are loaded onto a shared shipping container alongside other Ellcworth Express customers’ and you will only be charged for space taken up by your goods within the container.

Alternatively, it might be more advantageous for you to use Full Container Load, this is the assignment of a 20ft or 40ft container for your sole use and you will be charged a set rate based on which size shipping container you use. This is suitable for very large loads, such as office removals, a whole home load and car shipping to India.

If you send to India using air freight, expect to pay considerably more for this service as the bulk of your India shipping costs are calculated based on the WEIGHT of your items. The air freight option is usually used for smaller loads a customer needs delivered urgently – perhaps a box or two, or a suitcase, for example.

By air — Unaccompanied Airfreight is a cost effective alternative to prohibitive airline excess baggage rates, with transit typically around 10 to 14 days to airport. Air freight rates are calculated on the greater of volumetric weight or actual gross weight. Volumetric weight is determined by multiplying Length x Breadth x Height in centimetres divided by 6000 = volumetric kilos. Your consignment will be weighed at our depot to verify the actual gross weight.

Please note in accordance with anti-terrorist regulations governing shipment by air freight and air courier the contents of your shipment may be examined in transit or may be subject to security screening, which could include the use of x-ray, explosive trace detection and other security screening methods.

Important notice. The Baggage service is restricted to what one man can lift so please do not exceed 30 kilos per item. A re-packing surcharge per item of £30 will apply if items are deemed not suitable for transit.
